Pittsburgh/New Castle/Meadville, PA – Michael Garczynski, CPA,
a Partner with the Health Care Services Team of Carbis Walker LLP,
Certified Public Accountants & Consultants, recently contributed
to the CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business, 2008 edition of the manual
entitled, “Knowledge-Based Audits of Health Care Entities.”
The chapters contributed by Garczynski address the eight new risk
assessment standards issued by the Auditing Standards Board, which
affect audit reports issued after December 15, 2006, and require
auditors of health care organizations to depart from the traditional “checklist-oriented” audit.
The new standards require a greater understanding of the client’s
internal controls and environment, and require greater risk assessment.
Garczynski has extensive experience auditing health care organizations
and adding value throughout the audit process, specifically relating
to complex accounting transactions, financial reporting, and internal
controls. He regularly makes presentations to boards of directors
and professional groups and has written articles on a variety of
topics affecting the health care industry.
Garczynski is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA), the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (PICPA), and the Healthcare Financial Management Association
(HFMA). He is currently serving as the President-elect on the Board
of Directors of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the HFMA.
