New Castle, Pittsburgh, Meadville, PA – James A. Pitzer, CPA and James B. Slater, CPA have been appointed to serve on national committees for The Associated General Contractors of America  (AGC).  It is in AGC's committees that new ideas are developed and legislative policies are formulated.  The Committees also provide an excellent forum for discussion of the key construction industry issues.  Pitzer has been appointed to the Risk/Surety Committee and the Tax and Fiscal Affairs Committee.  Slater has been appointed to the Risk/Surety Committee.

Jim Pitzer is a Partner and the Firm's Coordinator of Construction & Real Estate Services.  Jim has focused on providing audit, review, compilation, and tax services as well as assisting his clients with the preparation of Department of Transportation state prequalification reports.  Jim utilizes his construction expertise to provide specialized, professional services to contractors and construction related companies.  Additionally, Jim has been a member of the Firm's Orientation Team, where his responsibilities include training team members in the areas of audit and accounting services.

Jim is a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  He is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Pennsylvania Association of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and sits on the Board of Advisors for the McGladrey Alliance's Construction and Real Estate Network.  Jim also serves on the Executive Committee of the Builders Association of Eastern Ohio & Western Pennsylvania and is Treasurer for the Lawrence County Division.

James Slater is a Senior Manager with the Firm's Construction & Real Estate Services Team.  His experience includes providing audit and accounting services to the Firm's construction clients, as well as specialized professional services such as evaluations of internal control systems.  Additionally, James is a member of the Firm's Audit and Accounting Committee, and serves as the Alternate Coordinator for the Firm's Report Center.  In this role, he is responsible for oversight and monitoring of the Firm's system of quality control, including compliance with professional standards, providing technical consultations on audit and accounting matters to clients and staff, review of financial statements, and presenting continuing education on audit and accounting subjects, both internally and externally. 

James is a graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (Summa Cum Laude).  He is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), where he currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Northwest Chapter, the Accounting and Auditing Committee, and was selected for inclusion in the 2011-2012 40 Under 40:  PICPA Members to Watch class.
