Jeff Petrell has been admitted to the Partnership of Carbis Walker
LLP and has accepted the position of Director of Tax Services. He
has over sixteen years of public accounting experience at Big Four
International Accounting Firms. His background includes significant
experience in providing tax planning, compliance, and advisory services
to a variety of organizations including taxable and tax-exempt organizations,
multi-state businesses, and flow-through entities.
Jeff’s experience covers a broad range of issues and transactions
including: tax controversy services involving the Internal Revenue
Service and state and local taxing authorities, mergers and acquisitions,
obtaining federal and state tax exemptions, structuring joint ventures
between tax-exempt and for-profit organizations, and conversions
from taxable to tax-exempt organizations and federal and state
private letter rulings. Jeff is a frequent speaker in the field
of tax-exempt organizations and has authored articles published
in The Pennsylvania CPA Journal and other publications.
Jeff is both a Certified Public Accountant and an attorney licensed
by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Jeff received his Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from
Robert Morris University and his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne
University School of Law.
He is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County
Bar Associations, the Tax Section Council of the Allegheny County
Bar Association, the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified
Public Accountants, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
He also is Treasurer of the North Hills Athletic Association, a
nonprofit organization providing youth athletic programs.
Jeff and his wife, Joyce, reside with their two children in Ross
Township.
