James
Hunt is a Partner and Carbis Walker LLP's Coordinator of Health
Care Services. During the past eleven years with the Firm, James
has worked with health care entities on a variety of financial
and operational engagements. He has extensive experience in auditing
health care entities and adding value to the audit process.
His background includes providing services such as Medicare
and Medicaid Cost Report preparation; performing operational
reviews focusing on improved efficiency; litigation support relative
to Medicare and Medicaid Appeals; for profit and not-for-profit
tax issues; purchase/sales of health care organizations; evaluation
of financing alternatives; evaluation of ancillary department
efficiency; health care benchmarking studies; development of
health care activity based costing systems; negotiating ancillary
vendor contracts; auditing Corporate Compliance Programs; and
acting as the Independent Review Organization under Corporate
Integrity Agreements.
James has been extensively involved in the Balanced Budget Act
of 1997, the Balance Budget Refinement Act of 1999 and the Benefits
Improvement and Protection Act of 2000. He has used his in-depth
knowledge of the various regulatory issues in helping clients
maximize reimbursement while maintaining compliance.
James is a graduate of Grove City College with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Administration. He also represents
the Firm as a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association
(HFMA), the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for
the Aging (PANPHA) and the Pennsylvania Health Care Association
(PHCA). He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA), the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (PICPA) and various other professional and
industry associations. James has conducted numerous speaking
engagements relative to health care finance for state health
care associations and state CPA societies and has written articles
for local and national publications.
